The emerging use of compression wear has witnessed decades of validated use in the medical field, recent increased visibility within both amateur & professional sports, and now On Site Therapy® is proud to present the industry’s first line of Occupational Compression Wear. Designed by Occupational Therapists’ Chuck Letchworth, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and Robert Lisson, expert in the field of Work Analysis, these new products offer an ergonomic solution for fatigue management and injury prevention.
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD’s) account for nearly 33% of all work-related injuries and it is important to distinguish that MSD injuries are not typically to the muscles themselves but rather defined as “musculotendinous” in nature and are similar to the Tendonitis injuries we see with athletes. Many of the upper extremity MSD’s are classified as Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI’s), the most problematic type of MSD’s in the workplace. The reason is simple, approximately 90% of all work activity requires the use of the hands . Although work tasks may be submaximal, over time, repeated performance, these movements will elicit muscular fatigue and increase the risk of developing RSI’s.
The use of OST gradient compression is an Ergonomic Solution that encompasses the understanding of not only the physicality, but also the physiological demands of work.
