The emerging use of compression wear has witnessed decades of validated use in the medical field, recent increased visibility within both amateur & professional sports, and now On Site Therapy® is proud to present the industry’s first line of Occupational Compression Wear. Designed by Chuck Letchworth, Occupational Therapist -Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and Robert Lisson, Occupational Therapist and expert in the field of Work Analysis, these new products offer a solution for fatigue management and injury prevention.
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD’s) account for nearly 33% of all work-related injuries. It is important to distinguish MSD injuries are not typically to the muscles themselves but rather defined as musculotendinous in nature. Subsequently, many of the Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI’s) commonly reported in industry are classified as Tendonitis. Repetitive work tasks, although submaximal, will elicit muscular fatigue decreasing joint stability, reducing accuracy of force application, alter the mechanical pull and tendon geometry increasing the risk of developing RSI’s.
The use of Occupational Compression Wear as an ergonomic solution encompasses the understanding of not only the physicality, but also the physiological demands of work.
Properly introduced, gradient occupational compression wear products provide:
- Preventative Solutions
- Assistance in muscle recovery for new employees during “work-hardening”
- Facilitate a successful return-to-work for injured workers
- Reduce lost time claims by managing initial complaints of pain, strain, or swelling.
